Letter from the Ambassador
Russia recognized the Chamber at the highest diplomatic level
In March 2002, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Brazil, Vassili P. Gromov, formally responded to the invitation to assume the Honorary Presidency of the Brazil-Russia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in São Paulo. It was not a mere protocol gesture.
It was the recognition, by the highest Russian diplomatic representative in the country, of an institution that had already been consolidating for over two decades a legitimate relationship between the two nations.
The original letter, reproduced below, records this moment. On the Embassy’s official letterhead, the Ambassador accepts the invitation and expresses his best wishes for success in strengthening economic and commercial relations between Brazil and Russia — the same mission the Chamber continues to pursue today.
